Sycamore - Wittenberg Project
Building a stronger, more resilient electric system
Citizens Electric is proposing the Sycamore to Wittenberg project to improve electric reliability. This project includes construction of a new approximately 22-mile, 138 kV transmission line connecting Citizens Electric’s proposed Sycamore substation located in Perryville to the Wittenberg substation. The project intention is to locate the newly proposed line adjacent to an existing line. The goal is to have this new line in service and providing benefits to the local community by the end of 2028. Citizens Electric members may notice a third-party contractor, Toth & Associates, assisting with field work.
Project Benefits
The project will promote grid reliability by adding an additional path of energy ensuring resiliency while preparing the grid for future capacity. The new line will connect the Sycamore Substation in Perryville to the Wittenberg Substation.
