Citizens Electric Corporation has once again been recognized for exceptional commitment to workplace safety, joining 30 Missouri electric cooperatives honored for maintaining safe operations. Citizens Electric employees have now achieved an impressive milestone: over 709,071 consecutive hours worked without a lost time accident.
Nicole Moonier, Director of Safety at Citizens Electric, explained that “lost time” refers to work-related injuries or illnesses that result in time away from the job. “For nearly five years, our team has upheld a perfect record of zero lost time incidents,” said Moonier. “This achievement is a direct reflection of our employees’ dedication to safety and their proactive efforts to foster a safe work environment. We remain committed to building on this success and reaching even greater safety goals.”
Safety at Citizens Electric is a shared responsibility, embraced by every team member, from new line crew hires to senior leadership. This collective approach has helped cultivate a strong culture of safety across the organization.
“We’re proud of the steps these cooperatives have taken to ensure every employee returns home safely each day,” said Johnie Hendrix, Vice President of Risk Management and Training at the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives (AMEC). “While AMEC provides extensive safety training, it’s the employees themselves who bring that training to life through their everyday actions.”
Citizens Electric received this recognition during the 2025 Annual meeting of AMEC, the Jefferson City-based statewide service organization supporting Missouri’s electric cooperatives.
