Citizens Electric Corporation is pleased to welcome Dakota Oehl of Friedheim to its Board of Directors. Dakota was selected to represent members in Cape Girardeau County and officially began serving on the Board in November 2025.
Oehl brings valuable experience from several roles within the community. His professional experience with the United States Department of Agriculture – Natural Resources Conservation Services supports local landowners and communities in improving soil health, managing water quality, and enhancing sustainability through sound engineering practices. Additionally, Dakota serves as president of the North Cape County Fire Protection District and as Secretary/Treasurer of the Cape Girardeau County Firefighters’ Association. He is a past president and an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim.
“I’m honored to serve the members of Citizens Electric,” Oehl said. “The cooperative spirit is built on the idea of neighbors helping neighbors. I’m eager to contribute to that tradition and to do my part in ensuring that Citizens Electric continues to offer the quality service its members have come to know and expect.”
Board President Derek Miesner said Dakota’s insight and community perspective will be a valuable addition to the Board.” He understands the importance of balancing the Corporation’s long-term needs with the interests of our members,” Miesner said. “We’re excited to have him join the leadership team.”
The Citizens Electric Board of Directors provides strategic direction and oversight to ensure the Corporation continues to meet the needs of its members today and into the future.
